Born/Raised in West Philly. Member of 70-80's Funk Band Brutus and Temple of Funk. Performed and shared the stage with many groups such as Blue Notes, Intruders, Cameo, Bar-Kays and Mandrill.


Fritz Unchie Johnson

Lead Guitar

Fritz Unchie Johnson started playing guitar in the early 70's with then considered to be some of the top bands in the Philadelphia area such as Billy Paul, Freddy Jackson, The Blue Notes, and others. Now embarking on his newest project to bring R&B group The Down To Earth Band back to the forefront on the R&B scene.


Donald Bradley

Vocals and Percussion

I was born in Philadelphia in the 1950's I became interested in music such as Odene Pope, Ray Goodman & Brown, Change and an early age. I remember beating on trash cans and cardboard boxes to create that distinctive sound. It wasn't long before I became an offical member of a community band including The Chill Factor Band, The Aura Band, Jules Johnson and the Dynamics, Dee-Dee- Sharp Gamble and most recently the re-unification of the Down To Earth Band.


Leonard Outen

Tenor and Baritone Sax

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Played in the 70s and early 80s with bands like Fat Larry's Band, Instant Funk and one of the biggest local bands in Philadelphia Brutus. I recorded with the legendary Bunny Sigler and Fred Wesley and I also recorded a single call laid-back written and produced by myself.


Charles Duffy Sewell


Charles Duffy started playing very early at the age of 4. Charles Duffy spent most of his time practicing in the basement. By the age of 10 Charles joined "The might Zeus Band" this led Charles Duffy to several other local Philadelphia.which landed his first professional job with "The Miracles" from 1982-1984< Charles Duffy now has his home with the "Down to Earth Band".


Frank Taggert


Raised in Philadelphia, started playing in the 7th grad at Strawberry Mansion Jr. High School. Later attended Overbrook High School, the Settlement Music School and Temple University, majoring in music. Frank also performed with local bands, and recorded with well-known Philly artist Gabriel Harderman & The Manhattans. After settling down, Frank now makes his musical home with "The Down to Earth Band".


Musa Yacub


Musa began his music career at a young age and was fortunate to perform with the legendary Chubby Checker, Sister Slege and other known musicians of the 80's & 90's. He was later involved in starting a jazz workshop on the campus of Syracause University and is now a full fledged member of the Down To Earth Band.


Gerand X

Lead/ Background Vocals

Gerand has performed in many projects the Prince, James Brown and Rick James review to name a few. He has performed abroad, touching in South East Asia for 3 decades. performing both Mandarin and Thai languages. He is a song writer, dance, and fashion designer. Since being back in the Uhited Stated he has continued to entertain the masses. He is a member of the "Down To Earth Band" and continues to wow audiences.


John Martin

Base Guitarist

A Philadelphia native. John started playing music at an early age. John found his niche playing the bass and is forever rewarded. John has had the opportunity to work with some of the most respected names such as Odne Pope, Ray Goodman & Brown, CHANGE and many others. John taught bass guitar at the Philadelphia Clef Club and Gibson School of Music in Philadelphia and is home with the "Down to Earth Band".


Audrey Lynelle Guess

Lead Vocals

Born Audrey Lynelle Guess, 3rd of 4 children the started singing at the age of 2. Lynn began singing with her family in church and sang her first sermonic solo(Eye on The Sparrow) at the age of 4, taught and accompanied by her father on organ. Audrey sang in her local district and National Choirs often singing leads. Audrey has found a new home with her family the "Down to Earth Band."
